Our Mission & Vision

Our mission is to introduce respectful communication skills, understanding of the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), and the value of the
Trauma-Informed/Responsive education approach in fostering resilience to all levels of trauma. We also introduce the fundamentals of
Nonviolent Communication to empower individuals to articulate their needs and feelings without blame and judgment, and to listen empathically.
This work allows individuals to
thrive and improve their behavioral, academic, and life outcomes.

We envision a nationwide movement that establishes relationship education as a core component of the learning process that creates a climate of
empathic human connection. Through our work, we strive to create positive and safe environments for organizations and schools, where students can
graduate, secure employment, and avoid cycles of incarceration.

"Of all the subjects in the curricula of all educational institutions relationship skills are the missing component, yet universally valued. Healthy Relationships 101 has not only addressed that fact but has done something about it by advancing a perceptive and inspiring book on relationships and teaching the subject in public schools."

    — Harville Hendrix, Ph.D and Helen Lakelly Hunt, Ph.D , Authors, Getting the Love You Want

“Given that we’ve discovered how to send a man to the moon but haven’t figured out how to get along any better than we do among ourselves, nothing is more important in these times than that we learn how to form and maintain quality relationships. Healthy Relationships 101 provides tools that all of us need in order to bond in meaningful and healthy ways with others. Especially for our young people, this is truly a much-needed gift.”

    — Marianne Williamson, Author, Speaker, Former Presidential Candidate

    What is Relationship Education?

The Relationship Foundation’s curriculum and workshops provide students, teachers, and organizations with tools that support relationships that thrive and flourish. Our work is grounded in Marshall Rosenberg's Nonviolent Communication, a skillset that cultivates the practice of articulating needs and feelings without blame and judgment, and listening empathically. This fosters greater critical thinking, empathy, and respect which creates a more supportive and resilient school.

Empathy is an art – the art of listening. We all want to be received. A simple “I hear you” or “Tell me more” opens the possibility for greater connection and harmony.

Healthy, Fulfilling Relationships

"The Relationship Foundation's unique professional development training on empathy, expressing needs and feelings respectfully, and bringing into focus the importance of understanding the Adverse Childhood Experiences study (ACES), gives our schools tools to effectively cultivate beneficial life skills for our students. This significantly contributes to our ability to aid our students in building resilience in the face of adversity that they encounter both in and out of school."
