Semester Course
Healthy Relationships 101 teaches students a dynamic set of social skills that cultivate character development and support creating, fostering, and supporting healthy relationships in all areas of the students’ lives. The semester-long course covers a wide range of topics including:
•Effective communication tools
•Empathy
•Bullying
•Identifying and avoiding abusive relationships
•The Beauty Industry
•Media Influence on relationships
•Modern gender roles
•Communication technology and relationships
In-class assignments, interactive coursework and journaling help students define relationships based on their highest values.
Two/Four-Week Course
The two and four-week courses are a series of classes that highlight the main topics of the semester-long curriculum described above. At the conclusion of the course, the instructor will meet with the teacher to evaluate the impact of the course and discuss how to expand the program’s objectives.
Assemblies
The instructor covers the key points of the Healthy Relationships 101 curriculum. Using lectures and interactive exercises, the presentation addresses perceptions of relationships, utilizing a highly effective communication skill set.
Parent Workshop
This workshop allows parents to explore their own perceptions and understanding of relationship dynamics in a safe and supportive environment. The universal principles of Healthy Relationships 101 apply to couples, single parents, and guardians alike. The instructor guides parents through key points that help them better define their own relationships as well as relationships with their children. Through inquiry and practice of our communication skillset, parents can then share what they’ve learned with their children to help strengthen the parent/child relationship.
Teacher Training
Our Professional Development team instructs staff how to teach the Healthy Relationships 101 curriculum. Our standard Professional Development course includes interactive exercises and in-depth discussion that focuses on the unique challenges students face, and how to provide the tools to support them. We also include printed materials that are invaluable in improving communication and understanding, not only with students, but with teachers, parents and administrators.
