OUR VISION
To partner with the education system to prepare coming generations to establish and maintain relationships that foster collaboration, mutuality and respect. The Relationship Foundation is committed to establishing relationship education as an essential component of the learning process.
OUR MISSION
Although meaningful relationships are an important part of personal fulfillment, this topic is rarely addressed as a subject in the classroom setting beyond Sex Ed.
Sex Ed is not enough; Relationship Ed is the missing component.
We offer students the opportunity to develop a communication skill set that gives them a way to express their own and relate to others’ needs and feelings with care and compassion. Through homework assignments, dynamic lectures, group discussions, workshops and interactive activities, our program Healthy Relationships 101 helps empower students to explore/define their values within the context of relationships and encourages them to redetermine what a healthy relationship can be.
The affects of this can be far reaching: recent studies show that with SEL, students’ behavior, academic abilities and test scores improve*. We intend to further support these findings.
It is our mission to bring national attention to this initiative and reach educators everywhere.
* A multi-million dollar clinical study was conducted on the work of the Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) program at the Morningside Center for Teaching Social Responsibility. Researchers from Harvard, NYU and Fordham concluded that behavior and test scores improved with SEL.
